Disk Usage is at 100% Computer runs sluggish sometimes

okay before i start with the specs. Sometimes while im using my desktop, my disk usage jumps to 100%, or while listening to music my audio would jump to 100% usage. As well as applications sometime take a while to launch or connect, Example 1: Discord would take a while to connect and when i dc i have to end all Discord apps and relaunch. Example 2 Youtube videos say " error playback" and i have to refresh a mllion times to watch it.Example 3 playing WOW and game just crashes, just vanishes on me. i just upgraded a bunch of stuff hoping it would fix this issue but it has not.
SPECS
GPU: EVGA GTX1070 super clocked (just got it)
CPU: i5
Mother Board:GIGABYTE GA-B85M-DS3H-A LGA 1150
Power supply: corsair 600w (new)
RAM: 8gigs 3ddr(picking up 8 more soon)
hdd: wd blue 1tb ( picked up a samsung sdd 250 gigs, but need to install it)

Sounds like something is pegging your disk usage very high. Open task manager and see what is taking the most and report back that process.

Hi there ploboy,

In most cases, this is caused either by the OS or a problematic drive.
What is your OS?

I believe you can test your drive with WD's Data Lifeguard Diagnostic (both short and extended tests) tool so you can make sure it is in a healthy state: http://products.wdc.com/support/kb.ashx?id=b2HU1k
If there is something wrong with it, it may be a good idea to back up the data stored.

Another thing you can do is to attach the drive to another port with different SATA and power cables.

If the issue persists, then all of this could be caused by background services.

hey as far as backround services theyve been disabled since the problem occurred, OS is windows 10 pro. Let me try and replace the cables.

update: it passed the diagnostics tests.
