My Seagate 500GB external hardrive stopped showing up with the rest of my HDDs so whe nI checked in Disk management it was un-partitioned, I don't want to lose all my data on it so how can I get it back (or does partitioning it not erase everything?)

Unfortunately if this is the case and if neither Ubuntu, nor data recovery software works for your, your best bet would be a professional solution such as a data recovery company. I'd recommend that you get in touch with the HDD manufacturer's customer support as the guys there might be able to offer some help regarding your data as well, or simply to find out what are your options.
Hey there.

Don't mess around with the partitions at all. Try accessing the drive via Ubuntu Live USB/DVD, to see if the partition is properly recognized and if you can get to your data. If that doesn't help another option would be data recovery software: http://pcsupport.about.com/od/filerecovery/tp/free-file-recovery-programs.htm. Hopefully one of the suggestions from the article does the trick and helps you recover your files.

Good luck!

I've connected the drive directly to the motherboard in-case the bridge had broke but still nothing. 9I had allready done this by the time I read your response, alot of other forums where saying the bridge could be at fault)
