Hi,

I have windows 10 home I have 2 ethernet adapters I'm using both of them (Wired) Is there any software out there that I could maybe Purchase that will allow me to team the network adapters so that I could do channel bonding or team the 2 network adapters together so they could maybe increase my speed. I know windows 10 the latest version no longer supports this, because I have an intel ethernet controller and the teaming feature is all grayed out. Also the other network controller is not an intel. Can I even do channel bonding or teaming if the 2 network adapters are not the same brand. If they have to be the same brand then I will just disable the qualcomm and then plug into a slot on the board another Intel ethernet card and I will be all set. Now I'm on a hard wired connection I have a home desktop pc. Custom Built.

Thank you!

You still will never exceed the bandwidth you purchase from the ISP even with 1 cable. This is like putting a bigger engine in your car but the speed limit in front of your house is still 10mph.

If you just bridge them it depends how smart your router is. If you are lucky the router will detect this and block one of the ports. If you are unlucky you have created a loop and you will quickly make your connection unusable. It will also likely hang the router and maybe even your pc.

You always want the ports set to auto. Since you can not change this on the router in most cases you will cause massive issue if one end is set to auto and the other is hard coded to something.

Network teaming can be achieved by modifying the configuration of the adapter, which is greyed out because you have dissimilar NICs.

However, this might offer some insight... http://superuser.com/questions/955825/is-windows-10-software-nic-teaming-now-possible

You need to connect both NICs to a switch that supports teaming, and these can be expensive. I used the Netgear GS108T-V2, but it is a very poor performer ($120 AUD)

If you're looking at load balancing, for a home environment you will propably not get any benefit as the traffic is not saturated enough to make the load balancing work effectively.

If you're looking at link aggregation to double your bandwidth you'll be disappointed as that will not happen, unless you have adequate bandwidth all the way through your LAN. As soon as you hit your router your limited to it's maximum bandwidth which is typically only 100mbit/s

If you run both adapters in a non-teamed environment you're going to have issues (at least that has been my experience), where moving data around the network can actually be slower than using a single NIC.

Since you have dissimilar NICs, typically you cannot even do teaming. The specifications page of your motherboard's manufacturer would probably have stated that.

Bottom line, teaming is not really going to achieve much, if anything. Good for failover and that's about all.

You need a special switch that has what is called port aggregation or 802.3ad.

So first it will not make your internet run any faster because that is controlled by the ISP and if you even have a 1g internet connection you are one of the lucky few.

Then it does little good to have your PC running at 2g when nothing else is. There is some argument if this was a nas device and you have multiple machine accessing it.

Still even if both your pc and the NAS were dual connected it still would only use a single connection for a file transfer. The application it was designed for was a central server that has many machine access data. It has little to no use in a home installation.

Okay So I understand everything that you are saying. I do however want to ask? I have both of my network controllers bridged. What I mean is In my network and sharing I highlight both ethernet controllers I right click and I select Bridge connections. Is that Improving my speed for Normal Internet surfing and throughput. Or is this type of setup doing more harm than good and I should just disable the bridge and just pick 1 of the ethernet controllers to use and disable the other one. I only have 1 computer I'm not running a server or a business or anything Like that Just the home desktop.;

Also these ethernet controllers are both 1000 mbps Gigabyte speeds. Which setting would yeild me better performance Should I use auto negotiate 100 mb Full duplex 100 mb half 1.0 gbps full duplex or 10 mb full duplex or 10 mb half

Thank you!!

Thanks to everyone that contributed to my issue. I will disable the Bridge and just go with 1 ethernet controller and then set my Lik duplex speed to auto negotiate. Let me know if that sounds like the right thing to do.

Thanks Again!
