My PSU compatible with motherboard..??

Hello Guys,

The following is my system configuration:
PSU : Antec VP450p (12V 2.3v)
Motherboard : Asrock Z170 Pro4s (12 V1)
Processor : i3 6100 (6th Gen)
RAM : 2 x 8 GB DDR 4 G-Skill 2400 MHz RAM
HDD : 1 TB Seagate barracuda, 500 GB Seagate

Now the issue is that i am able to insert 4 pins out of 8 pins of psu in my motherboard and is that ok..??

IF your psu has a 8 pin cable and your motherboard only calls for a 4 pin, yeah its fine to just leave the other 4 pins handing off and not actually plugged in.

You want to get the FULL 8 pin CPU power inserted into the board , for it to run properly , that PSU has an 8 pin (4+4), insert it.

Actually the issue is that my motherboard also have 8 pins but the pin structure doesn't match. Only one set of 4 pins is same.

It should match! make sure you are using the 8PIN EPS CPU cable and not the PCIE 8PIN cable.

Yes you can run most motherboards with only a 4pin but it can cause problems for overclocking and jut stability overall if the board is trying to draw more power than 75watts from it.

Don't look at the shapes it can only fit in one way over the latch.

Your 4+4 = 8 Pin from the PSU , goes into your 8 pin CPU po0wer on the board.

Yup but only 4 pins out of (4+4) pins match...Thats the issue
And I would I like to know whether it affects my system or not...

can you please explain in more elaborate detail? IDK what you are trying to say. are you talking about the CPU power connector? If you are then yes. Yes you can.

I would like to summarize my problem:

My psu is of eps12V type
My motherboard is of ATX 12V1 type

Due to which only 4 pins of connector match in such situation what should I do...??

The shapes don't matter , it can only go in one way , clip over the latch , it's normal for the shapes not to match.

Like blackbird says the 8PIN EPS cable can only go in one way with the latch. Not much else to explain.
