So tricky situation. I upgraded from windows 8 to Windows 10 shortly later my computer just hit a wall and started doing the no boot able drive thing. It didn't come with a boot disc and stupidly i didnt make one nor take not of the product key for windows. So I know I can download to boot files and make a disc or a USB but I do not have the product key, do I have to have that? Because if I am going to have purchase a Windows license I might as well just just a new computer at this point

Solution
it is not mandatory but highly recommended to activate with a valid product key for windows updates which are vital sometimes for ur peripheral devices and other hardware components to work properly...
