My isp provides me with 180 down and 20 up. On my mac book air over wifi I hit those speeds every test I run. Switch over to my new desktop which is wired straight into the modem and when ever I speed test it consistently does the same weird thing.

I start test download shoots up to 125 and slowly creeps down and settles at 93 mbps. Upload never passes 12. Why could this be I am sure it is not the ethernet cable as I have tried different setups and stuff. I am 100% sure the problem exists on my pc.

my pc

gtx 970

i7 4790k

8gb of ram 1600mhz

msi gaming 3 motherboard with a gigabit capable ethernet port.

wd blue 1tb

intel 530 ssd with os installed.

I really really would be thankful for any help that is provided. Thanks!!!!

Solution

Actually I figured out the problem it was the killer lan Ethernet drivers that come with my mobo. Unistalled those drivers and I am good to go.

Thanks for you time anyway though!

Yeah if I had heard it was a Killer LAN chip the drivers would have been my first guess. They are extremely sensitive to what driver is used. Glad you figured it out and now have it working properly. I will use the "Pick as the solution
button to mark your answer as the solution so that other people will be able to easily see how you fixed the problem and it will show up as a solved thread. Best of luck to you..
