So yeah i'm running Word 2016 on my windows 7 machine, sometimes it'll either freeze the computer or it'll just go black for a second cut all sounds and stop responding. Yes i do hard to do a hard reboot after it totally freezes. I've updated it yet nothing has worked, this has been a pain in the arse as i do a lot of word writing on both my laptop and desktop (only crashes on desktop).
I've tried searched around in google but with no luck at all.

I doesn't crash if i stay in the document, but as i write things i tend to go search for information or tab out of the word document. It crashes if i open it again.

Solution
I have Office 2016 on two of my Win 10 laptops and have had no issues whatsoever. Must be a very peculiar config issue on your particular system.

I hope you found the needle in the haystack. Good luck.

Yes it was part of the ''install everything'' pack. Onenote word powerpoint excel ect.. :)
Having the same problem with power point, haven't really used other Microsoft programs yet like excel n stuff on my desktop but i assume it'll be the same. I think it has something to do with the new layout, it has that windows 10 layout ish style. Maybe it's messing with my graphics drivers, not quite sure. The computer doesn't make any crash file when it freezes either so it's kinda hard to figure out.

There's no malware nor virus on me pc, yes it only happens with the office apps.
It'll either make my screen go black for a few sec and cut all sound, then crash. OR
It'll freeze me pc totally requiring a hard reboot

Unfortunately short after i wrote that it did the same thing, froze my computer had to do a hard reboot. I installed the analyzer tool by microsoft called
offCAT and scanned word but found no problems either

If you go into the Event Viewer and look at the events for the software around the time your system froze, is there anything specific to Office? What about under System in the Event Viewer around the time it froze?

Nothing even shows up in the event viewer about the crash ;c.

And yes :), they're both from the Microsoft page

Does the smiley emoticon imply you only have one licence? I believe it could explain a thing or two.

Nope :p..

Make sure your default printer is valid, accessible, and works (even if you're not planning to print). I've seen Microsoft Office programs crash or get balky if they cannot talk to their printer.
Even if the printer looks good, next stop your print spooler service, clear out C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS, then restart the print spooler.

I think that the main problem is the windows 10 design is somehow messing up my graphics drivers, i had other problems with the windows 10 design in other programs where it would crash. But really i was just trying random stuff. and that solution has worked so far. Oddly enough..
