One PCIe cable or two separate cables?

Up until now, I've had my GPU connected via one PCIe cable from the PSU, but am wondering if I should actually have two seperate cables instead?
For example, the 8 pin cable coming from my PSU has x2 6+2 connectors on it, however the PSU came with several single ended cables too.

GPU: Asus Strix Radeon R9 Fury
PSU: Corsair AX860i

Could I be putting unnecessary power draw from a single output, or is that what the cables were intended for?

either will work

dual single 8-pin cables would be easier to tuck away if you care about that

I know that.
What I mean is, some of the 8 pin PCIe cables that came with my PSU are single 8 pin and one end, 8 pin at the other.
The other ones have 8 pin at one end and the other end splits into x2 8 pin connectors, which is what I have used rather than 2 seperate cables attached to the PSU.
I want to know if that's correct or if I should use two seperate 8 pin cables, both connected to the PSU.
