Hi there! In October, I'm going to build a X99 machine with a Xeon E5 2697 v3 CPU with Non-ecc memory. I know that E5 v3 Xeons only supports memory speeds of 2133MHz, but what I don't know is if the DRAM voltage on Xeons is limited to 1.2v or would I be able to run 2133 XMP memory with 1.35v without damaging the chip in any way?

Solution
2133 is the default, though oft times the BIOS will set to looser timings. Your call though I wouldn't run DRAM at 1.45 - there's no need unless thinking LN2

Me personally, I'd prefer to buy ram that's already preset with the advertised timing out of the box!
I would think that 1.45 wouldn't be a problem on a Haswell Xeon, but since it's locked to 2133MHz, IDK if the DRAM voltage is locked down too?! and not even Intel could answer my question. :'(

Opps! I meant to say 1.35v
