I have 2 hard drives. One SDD and one HDD. I run the chkdsk command to scan / repair any errors. The SDD drive is ok. The HDD drive said there were problems, then scanned through Windows 10 (upgrade version) and now no problems. The computer is slow. I tried the Crystal Link program, but my other hard drive doesn't show any details. It's there but nothing else. No Good signal, no bad signal, just nothing.
My question is: Is this hard drive going bad or is the Windows 10 not working well with my system?

Thanks

Hi there ChazFlibberpants,

Unfortunately, your HDD is most probably failing.

My advice would be to transfer all the important data stored on the HDD to the SSD.
After that, you can attach the drive with different cables to another port and try to test it once again. If this does not work, I believe you can try some other tool, that can provide a SMART report: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/282651-32-best-diagnostic-testing-utility

Let me know how this goes,

You are right! Last night I tried doing the chkdsk again. It said something like "there is not enough room to fix errors" or something to that affect. I'll have to use flash drives to save pictures and other documents for now.

Thanks for your advice.

Most probably, the chkdsk command was trying to reallocate bad sectors. In case there are many of them, there is a chance that there is not enough space for reallocation.

If the drive is under warranty, I believe you should be able to RMA it.
