Hey!
I've started upgrading my old PC (7-8 years old) part by part. I'm going for budget parts. I've gotten myself a case - Zalman Z3 Plus, SilentiumPC 600W PSU and gpu - GTX 770 (used).
To finish the rig up I plan on getting i5-4460, 8/16 GB 1600/1866 RAM, WD 2TB HDD and H97 mobo.
Now
-Is 8GB ram enough or should I go for 16GB already? I'd go for 2x8 anyway so I can get additional 8GB later if I go for single 8. There isn't much price difference on HyperX 1600 and 1866 so I'd probably go for 1866.
-What H97 mobo would you recommend? I don't think Z97 is worth getting, since 4460 is not for OC anyway.
-Would this rig look decent after a sum up? I'll make a list:

-Case: Zalman Z3 Plus
-PSU: SilentiumPC 600W
-GPU: Gigabyte GTX770
-CPU: i5-4460
-Mobo: Some H97
-RAM: HyperX 8GB 1866MHz
-HDD: WD Blue 2TB

Solution
By looking at Haswell Refresh (i5-4460) you are upgrading your 7-8 year old PC with 3 year old parts. Why not look toward Skylake (i5-6500 / 6400) for roughly the same cost? Also, look toward a MB with four memory slots, and always install memory modules in matching pairs. Running a single module, or mismatched modules, will have you in single channel mode (reduced performance). FWIW, H97 is "limited" to DDR3-1600...
