Hey everyone. I'm trying to upgrade an old Dell optiplex 780 MT, trying to get it to run Minecraft at highest settings with atleast 60 fps. The problem however, is that I can't find which version of the pci-e x16 slot it has. Can anyone help me out? Also, could someone tell me which GPU would be good (preferably one which would not be bottlenecked too badly if the PCI slot is too old)? My budget is about 100 dollars... Thanks!

Thanks, but I think that may be a little overkill... Also, here in India, the price of the 750 TI begins at about 150 dollars.

Sadly, the 740 is about 1$ cheaper than a 750TI :). I have a laptop with Intel HD graphics, and only get about 35 fps on lowest optifine settings. I'll try a low end card, should work. My main concern is that the power will be bottlenecked by the PCI e 1.0 x16 slot. I was wondering whether any of you would be able to confirm that it is in fact a 1.0... If not, great, but if it is, I'll need help finding a card with the perfect balance between price, power and un-bottleneckedness ;). Thank you for your help!

Really?! That's fantastic! The reason I asked is because on another thread I saw that someone said the 780 has a PCI e 1.0 x16. Thanks a lot! :)

PCIe is fine. The 740 can require a 6 pin PCIe which your computer won't have. The GTX730 1GB DDR5 works well with a 720p TV for a monitor and due to drawing 37W can be overclocked 25-30% on the existing PCIe power. If you can find a used Dell T3400 375W PSU then you will have a 6 pin PCIe cable and can use some other GPUs.
Be sure and get the latest BIOS from Dell. PCIe version can get updated there. That computer has an EUFI BIOS so get a GPU that supports that. Maximum CPU is Q9650. But many people use the Q9550,Q95000 to save money.
