Why do I get a worse connection after upgrading?

First off, I'll apologize because I know there are plenty of threads asking "Why does my connection speed suck?" But this seriously confuses me. I had a TP-Link N900 network adapter and I was getting upwards of 10mbps downloading something on steam and I could actually play online games. But I just threw it out and got a TP-Link archer T8E, which I thought would be a beast if I already had a 450mbps card and this was a 1300mbps. Well I was wrong. Now I struggle to get 2.5 Mbps downloading a game and can't even play the BF1 beta because I lag out all the time. This doesn't make any sense to me, a better, faster card gets worse connection??? Anything helps guys.

I don't know if that'd get me back to 10mb but I can try

I bet it will. You can also mess with the position and antennae position of teh router.

Oh thank Jesus. My card was positioned literally millimeters away from my video card in the PCI-E slot above it and my video card has a metal backplate, which I'm not sure if it was interfering with it or what, but I moved it to a lower slot and adjusted the antennas and now I get 12 Mbps.

Glad you solved it.
