Are Kingston DDR3 1333mhz and Crucial DDR3 1600mhz 2GB RAM sticks compatible?

I bought 2 sticks of Crucial 1.35V DDR3 RAM to complement my 2 2GB Kingston 1.5V set in my ASUS P8Z68-V LX mobo. However it seems they are incompatible out of the box; only one set will work installed at a time. I've tried swapping the positions but no difference.

I asked here if they would work together and the consensus seemed to be they would just at the higher voltage.

But maybe I need to change some BIOS setting to make this happen?

You have 2 kits that are as about incompatible as they get. 2 different speeds, 2 different vendors, models, voltages and timings. Best bet would be RMA and buy 1 kit with 2x8Gb or 2x4Gb sticks.

Not only will you have to set voltage at 1.5v, but you'll also have to lower the speed of the 1600 to 1333 and match the timings. All done in the bios.

Even tweaking may not work. Mixing ram is pot luck. It's entirely possible they may never work together.

The only chance to get them to work together is to set all voltages, speeds, and timings Manually in the BIOS. You will need to set them to 1.5V and 1333Mhz and what ever timings the 1333Mhz kit runs at should be ok.. So the way to do this is to put the old set in first and set everything manually and then remove the old set and see if the new set will run with those settings, then add the old set in as well and see if they all play nice together. One trick if they kinda work but not quite is to up the IMC voltage a very slight amount but this is the last thing I would try in addition to doing everything else.

Thanks - I tried the new Crucial sticks on their own for a while since I figured out of the two I might as well run the less taxing and faster model. Except my computer restarts after about an hour of the new Crucial ram. This was the memory Crucial's guide said was compatible on their website. What could be going wrong there? Looks like I should go for a refund, but I want to be sure what's going on first.

My BIOS is version 4105 built 07/01/2013. I have never upgraded since I bought the mobo. The BIOS doesn't appear to let me edit the DRAM voltage - just an uneditable box saying 'auto' and tells me what the current RAM is being powered at - either 1.5 or 1.35 depending on what stick(s) are in.

Also I'm told RAM timings are important - the older Kingston is 9-9-9-24, the newer Crucial is 11-11-11-28.

I've downloaded memtest to usb and will give that a go, but first just fired up with one of the new 2gig sticks to see if it's just one or both I get the reboot issue with.
