Hi there,

My PC has been running on integrated graphics for the past 6 months. I just got a new GTX 1060 today and I'm attempting to install it. I plugged it to the PCI slot, put in the VGA cable, turned machine on, but I'm getting just a black screen. I'm using a HDNI and have tried ports on the MOBO and graphics cards itself but still black. I uninstalled it, turned off the integrated graphics in Device manager, and it's still a black screen.

Any ideas as to what's going on? As of right now I've uninstalled it and turned the integrated graphics back off again.

Did you plug in the 6 pin power connector?

You uninstalled the 1060 and turned off the IGP ... that leaves you with nothing to display an image. Going to need one or the other.

Integrated GFX = CPU is off
Discrete GFX = 1060 is gone

1. Make sure 1060 installed in primary PCI-E slot (check MoBo manual). Connect the monitor cable to the 1060; make sure 6 pin PCI-E power cable plugged in

2. Reset CMOS.

3. Enter BIOS; reset all settings to default.

4. Save and exit BIOS, boot to windows,

If you want to plug monitor in MoBo, you will need to turn on integrated GFX again
