HI
so first my PC would restart within 30 mins of playing bf4,All temps and tests I ran shows no overheating.

Tests I ran are like various software etc and I am sure temp wise things are good . Both cpu and gpu under Aio cooling and both are fairly new and perfect.

Now the only thing between pc working as normal and not was that I moved rooms and reinstalled windows,This resulted in regular, predictable restarts of system ,No messages.

So eventually from suggestions I quickly bought a new psu to test for failure & after testing psu for not being DOA I resumed to install where I found my system would no longer start.

I found that if you leave PCIE connectors unplugged from gpu, it would turn on the fans of gpu and Aio one note: I noticed that the two 8 pins connected to the PSU on the old psu are actually 6 pins inside the 8 little connectors and on the new PSU the 8 pins that connect to the PSU are actually in fact 8 physical pins inside...did this blow my gpu...????

Appreciate help guys I've tried everything from installing all components 1 at a time checking them individually and together and have narrowed it down to the GPU/driver or motherboard or bios settings, this is prior to system not starting...but after noticing this issue on the pins, I know the gpu is obviously the first place as I get a message that if I don't use pcie connectors then ' plug them in'.

I believe both my PSU are fine but gpu may had easy fix but now I'm afraid it maybe destroyed

GPU/Driver or BIOS settings? Did you change something besides re-installing the OS? If you made changes what were the old settings and the new?

Have you checked the power in that room? Preferably an AC volt-meter, but do other electronic devices work in there?

As for the 6-pin 8-pin thing, not entirely sure what you mean. The minimum pins a 6-pin needs is 5, an 8-pin should have 8 depending on how thorough the power supply maker is. I believe a 7-pin arrangement is technically supported. The two additional pins on the 8-pin is only a 12V and a Ground.

If you mean that the overall cable only had six wires, that can be okay as long as the wire gauge is enough to handle the current without overheating. Corsair does this a lot.

You aren't going to blow something up in a GPU by having less wires. They put protection on the GPU and the PCIe inputs to prevent harm from bad wiring. Usually just making sure someone hasn't jammed a the 8-pin CPU power into it and detecting that there is actually the appropriate voltage on all the pins.

Thanks for reply

I wiped OS just to have clean pc.

But I never changed anything except maybe drivers and set my kept my bios settings as default.
In the other room I had my system powered through extension plugs sockets but when I changed room I plugged them into the room where I got the frequent restarts of system.

All other equipments work in that room yes.

The 2 power connectors I mean on the ax760 that I used prior to when system not powering on, on the two what seem like 8 pin connectors (not seperable) inside the individual points you can see 6 gold contact points the other 2 have none and this is for both on that end.It is where you plug into PSU,but on my newer PSU evga 750, the 2 8 pins connectors indivually inside the contact points are 8 metal points as opposed to the 6 in the corsair...I wondered why they are different and thought maybe if that had any part in this as literally I have changed PSU and noticed this late afterwards.

I have flashed bios to latest version and also put it back to previous version.

I have separate monitor and can use my system but not with gpu in, if it has connectors

Sry for not making clear but I did flash the bios in attempt to resolve issue with restarts however it didn't help I then installed new PSU at which stage it powered on as usual but the following happened I suddenly was hit with a black screen and sound through headphones as though it was driver crash.

I then proceeded to restart the system as I could not get anything from the screen but the system was still on and so when I powered off and on it didn't power on and that's how the power on issue arose. So basically there were changes I made of drivers and bios in order to see if that may help.
One other thing to note I was in my bios after the flash just checking things out and set my fans the Wright way as everything defaulted after the flash but I happened to notice it say ' gpu none ' but I didn't pay much attention as I just randomly saw this. I then updated graphics driver and the above process occurred while playing game where it went blank screen but with windows was on.
