Cloned Win10 SSD fail to boot OS

I just bought a 240GB Kingston SSD to replace an old 120GB Kingston SSD which has Win 10 installed. I've cloned the 120GB onto my 240 GB using the Apricorn EZ Gig IV (paid version w USB-SATA cable) and swapped out the drives physically on the same SATA port. But after POST, my computer is giving me the error of not finding the OS drive (0xc000000e error). The new 240GB SSD was even recognized in the BIOS. I've also tried to clone using AOMEI Backupper (free) and Macrom Reflect (free) and still haven't had any luck with booting Win 10 from the new SSD. I read from some forum about using EASYBCD software, but I have no idea on how to use it after downloading it. Please advise.

Yes, I cloned the entire drive without messing with any partition settings in the larger SSD. But i noticed in the finished 240GB clone has the exact same free space as the 120GB, and the rest of the extra space being shown as UNALLOCATED under Disk Management.

What are the rest of the system specs? Oh and did you select the 4K Alignment option when using the Apricorn EZ Gig IV software? Also there is a option that needs to be used with dell systems called "MediaDirect". Theses are in the advanced options.

It's difficult to tell whether something went awry with the disk-cloning operations or something else is amiss here. I just responded to a poster who raised a similar disk-cloning problem. Perhaps the info might be helpful in your situation. Take a look at http://www.tomshardware.com/answers/id-3175846/swapping-larger-ssd.html

My system is I5-2500K OC'd to 4.5GHZ, Gigabyte GA-Z68XP-UD3 Mobo, 16GB G-skill DDR3-2400 RAM, 120GB SSD (for OS), 256GB SSD, 240GB SSD (latest acquisition), 500GB HDD, 250GB HDD, 80GB HDD. Windows 10 upgraded from Win 7.

Under the Adv Option, I've selected 4k Alignment and Smartcopy On. THe MediaDirect option was greyed out.

I've also tried using the Casper 10 software ArtPog recommended, but with no luck. So after trying 4 different programs, I don't think it's software issue anymore. Any thoughts? worst case, i'll just do a clean install using my Win 7 disc, and have a dual boot system w Win 7 and Win 10.

Have you tried cloning with only the source drive and the target drive connected to the system?

Since you've tried three different disk-cloning programs with no success it's obviously not a problem with the d-c program itself.

1. We'll assume your present 120 GB SSD boot drive boots to the OS and thereafter functions with no problems whatsoever. That's right, isn't it?

2. Can we assume the 240 GB SSD is non-defective?

3. Why have you used one of those SATA-to-USB adapters for the d-c operation? Why haven't you simply internally-connected the new 240 GB SSD destination drive in your PC? (Our experience with those SATA-to-USB adapters has been quite negative although I'm aware many PC users find them acceptable.)

4. As utroz suggested, have you attempted the d-c operation with only the 120 GB source drive and the 240 GB destination drive connected?

5. I assume that when you used the Casper d-c program there was no error message generated during the d-c operation, right?

6. And following the d-c operation did you boot the system with ONLY the 240 GB newly-cloned drive connected? And did you check the BIOS to ensure it was reflected first in boot priority order?

I had to use the sata/USB cable because it came with Apricorn software and it mandate it to be used. But I've also connected the 240gb directly to another sata port while using the other programs.

I've also tried disconnecting all other drives besides the 120 and 240, and was getting a "Disk boot failure error". It went away after i plugged everything back in.

At this point I'm pretty much fed up with the whole clone disk swap and installing a fresh copy of window on the new 240gb. The win 10 anniversary update has already jacked up some of my system drivers and games.

Thank you both for helping me out, nevertheless!
