So i had been experiencing frame drops in game etc and i decided that i will buy a motherboard soon (havent done it yet) But some time ago i got 8500 in score with a few framedrops then also but now i got freaking 4500 x2 What the heck. Will the motherboard fix this or is there something wrong with my gpu cpu etc? could the bad motherboard have damaged other components.

Specs:Msi Gtx 970 with 1 fan, fx 8350, MSI 970a-g43, 8gb ddr3 ram 1tb hdd bitfenix nova case (bad airflow) Also the physics score was 7k now and graphics score 4k same as last but why is my cpu getting better scores then my gpu when like 4 different people i have talked to said it was my motherboard

Solution
Yes mate absolutely , what you're seeing there is board vrm throttling under load.
The CPU temps are fine, not great but well within spec.
The lowest they get on those grabs is 11.8 which is essentially 60c load temps.

See how when the clocks drop the margin shoots up to 30c instantly ?? That's your evo doing its job well.

You said you had erratic temp jumps , now you know why.
You probably just have a virus if it's everything running slower.....
Who were these four people you talked to? The motherboard wouldn't impact performance dramatically, it will typically either hang the system, or die straight up if it is not working properly.

http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/11550687 I did the 3dmark 11 test here are my results they are about 2000 points under average for same specs. Any Solutions?

Its your CPU mate without a doubt

Your graphics score is pretty normal. Your physics (CPU) should be 7500 or so.

I have no doubtbuts throttling under the physics tests as I said on the other thread.

Download heaven & valley benchmarks (Google them)

These are entirely GPU based so your CPU won't affect results barely if at all.

I did heaven benchmark on Extreme preset : file:///C:/Users/Jonas/Documents/Unigine_Heaven_Benchmark_4.0_20160904_1954.html

And i did Valley Extreme HD preset: file:///C:/Users/Jonas/Documents/Unigine_Valley_Benchmark_1.0_20160904_1944.html

So its probably my cpu, but is it posible that my cpu has gotten damaged by the mobo.
And will the only solution be buying a new motherboard? Because A better pc adviser then my old one told me kinda same thing as the first one who replied on this, and its more an overheating issue If it is it might be because of my Bad airflow in my case the way my cpu cooler (hyper 212 evo) is rotated(Fan pointing downwards against gpu) Or anything else but if mean that it isn't and overheating issue then tell me, Btw gpu got up to 80 degreese in some occasions during the test with custom afterburner ubersettings . And my cpu is generally at a very unstable temp during idle and load going from 30-60 in some occasions.

These were my temps on my cpu while playing a round of cs:go https://gyazo.com/92e46280be6cff745fdaa7c0de9ae4df

Hi,

I will just add to this thread:

Is this a good score and why can I push my Graphics card to those limits without issues? The levels I am reading in forums is 1,6k MHZ as GPU block.. Temp stays with 3DMark11 at 65 max.

Why is my score so bad?

http://gpuz.techpowerup.com/16/09/04/ghg.png

Would appreciate any feedback.

I cannot read those bench results as they're files on your hard drive.

You could upload them to drop box or Google drive or similar & I'll have a look.

Your issue is that g43 board mate , trust me on this 100%.

Why do you have your fan pointing down ??
Ideally it's notvthebbeat position but it'll only impact temps by 5c or so.

If you really really want positive proof of CPU throttling.

Download amd overdrive & install it.

http://www.amd.com/en-us/innovations/software-technologies/technologies-gaming/over-drive

Download Intel burn test & unzip it.

http://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/intelburntest.html

Open overdrive, open CPU status tab.

This will give you 8 core readout with independant clock speeds & thermal margins.

Run Intel burn test , start a run.

Watch clock speeds & thermal margins , take a screen grab after a couple of minutes & post or just post your clock speeds & thermal margins after 2 minutes.
You can stop the test with the stop button at any time.

As long as thermal margins stay above 0c you do not have a cpu temperature issue.

If your clock speeds drop below 3000mhz on any core you are suffering motherboard throttling.
At a guess you'll see drops as low as 1400mhz.

First screen grab: https://gyazo.com/f5eb7ac57f8158795658c255644f7f2d

Second one: https://gyazo.com/5f653a71c2d768102787f8e41c1e5656

So yeah its quite obvious i dropped down to 1400mhz

I guess that means a new motherboard like the asus m5a97 Would do the trick and solve absolutely everything?

I get free shipping if i pay 1000kr and shipping is about 100kr So if i buy the m5a97 motherboard it will cost me 970kr with shipping, and 1050kr for this one https://www.komplett.no/product/819931/datautstyr/hovedkort/amd-socket/msi-970-gaming-socket-am3# Is it worth the extra 70 kroners for a better motherboard

I bought the more expensive board and now it should probably come in like 4 days, thanks for all the quick replying and great help and for making me learn alot. Is there any way i can like give you a rating or something to make u get better stats?
I mean its the very least i can do.

No worries mate , you marked best answer & I'm not in it for the glory anyway.

When you install that board & refit the evo put the fan next to the ram if you can mate - you'll get better cooling that way.

You should still have some silver paste for it left??
Just scrape what's on the CPU off with a credit card or similar , it will still be soft & there is honestly no need to buy alcohol to clean if you don't already have some.

Be aware on the MSI gaming board , there is a small slow mode switch below the main 24 pin PSU connector - make sure this is switched off which is in the bottom position.

Can I reuse the paste on my cpu that is allready been pasted I put the paste on like 3 months ago. Or would it create holes and ruin my cpu? (Lost my tube because i borrowed it to my 17 year old brother and he freaking missed it. So pissed right now) I have the motherboard and i really want to just get done with it because first i dont want to spend another 15 dollars and second going to my mom in 2 days and will be there for 2 weeks so thats gonna be a nightmare and I might not get the paste before friday and then i have left..... So can i reuse the paste with no problems?

Mmmm, depends how much is on there.

Did you use the silver stuff that came with the 212,??

If so its silver based & should not have set.

If this is the case , scrape it off with a bank card or similar, give it a mix up with another bank card/spatula/pretty much anything hard plastic & reapply it in just a blob in the middle of the CPU.

You should be OK.

....... We put on like double as much as we should when we put it on for the first time and there werent to big off gaps in the paste is that an issue?? And here are my results not http://www.3dmark.com/3dm11/11558693 quite 7500 and i my cpu thing drops down to 1400mhz when idle but same happens with my brother. And now my idle temps are like 55-60degreese celsius is that an issue?

https://gyazo.com/de86a6b784d31462f4f53cb649a21e86 Temps went down to -2 but i didnt catch that and they were on 0 a little bit. https://gyazo.com/5f5599ff960af42aae031c3f08471960 those two are both idle on afterburner and overdrive.

https://gyazo.com/5beadce2d2bccb766e1f7ae1b671babd That was with load. Had a split second with 9mhz
And Msi Afterburner with load: https://gyazo.com/a89539806b7f216553e437793ac0958d

They arent quite good....? I trusted u fully on this man and now i got an even bigger loan from my dad so i dooont hope it was a waste.

It was samething with old mobo it was good for like 2 months then it turned shit

And when i play Borderlands the pre sequal i get down to a stabel 6-7fps because of my temps

The temps are poor mate , not dangerous but poor.
Sort some paste out when you get chance or make your brother find yours.

Clock drops are down to turbocore , nothing less, that result is fairly normal.

In all honesty I would boot into BIOS & disable turbocore completely.

It does nothing in multitheaded apps, pushes excess voltage & causes clock fluctuations.

Disable it. Reboot, run burn test & overdrive again & you should see all cores sit at 4ghz under load with barely any fluctuation.

The board is holding up absolutely fine mate.

Ok thanks, this pc has just been a hassle and so much stress but thanks to people like u its been atleast a little bit better, i have learned from mistakes and i have ordered new cooling paste. Knowing myself. I will probably still have an issue with something and then get a new case or something.. Wish i didnt buy used parts and trusted my advisor thingy about "motherboards have like basicly nothing to say" and the coolingpaste will be fine....

Hey i just want to be sure. would cleaning of the paste on my cpu with paper and a little bit of water be ok or would that hurt the component or not delete the paste? Or do you have any other better solution for cleaning it off?

I thought about using coffe fiters also though and i might just end up buying the 99percent alcohol if i can find some but would the coffe filter and water be fine? applied the paste for the first time about 4 months ago

apply_1.jpg
dont use water, just use a plastic card (bank card or similar) to scrape the majority off both the cpu lid & the cooler.
Then wipe whatever you can away with a piece of kitchen towel.
It does not have to be spotless mate - a dull sheen is absolutely fine.

apply_1.jpg

that is how much paste you want on the cpu at the absolute max - dont spread it at all - just drop the cooler on & screw it down.
