Earlier today my computer overheated, and it wont turn on now. Every part of my computer, except my hard disk and gpu are a week old, so dust is not the issue. Since I have used the new pc pretty heavily the last week I'm not sure what made it overheat at this time. When I try to turn it on the gpu fans and the cpu fan spins just a couple times before they stop (I tried this after the computer was cooled down).
Specs:
- Gtx960
- z170-a motherboard
- Intel i7 6700k
- Corsair 750x
- Corsair Vengeance LPX Red 2666M 2x8 GB
when the power is plugged in the motherboard lights up a small green light indicating that it has power, I do not know if this means that is works though.

Solution
My brother's PC used to Overheat ALL THE TIME and he doesn't take good care of it at all so naturally he just went and kept using it.

What worked was putting the plug into another electrical socket.

If these happen often, I suggest
-A : Adding more intake fans and make better airflow through the case
-B : Switch off stock CPU cooling if you have it. A nice CPU fan goes as low as 20, a low profile one around 40. Closed loop water is 60 for a nice one.

My guess is that your 6700k overheated, I heard those can run pretty hot, also anything can overheat when under use for a long session.

If u want basic cooler for very mild overclocks u can go with the cooler master hyper 212 EVO which will run between $24-35 also as justiceinacan said get some more case fans. And if your overclocked with a stock cooler then definitely just run stock speeds. Also make sure u don't have a very think amount of thermal paste on your CPU, thinner is best when using thermal paste. Although if your PC isn't coming on then I would take the parts to a PC repair shop and see if they can test it and see if your parts are still if a decent condition to use or if they're just blown.
