Hello all,

It would be great if you guys can advise me on the parts for a new game PC.
There are a few components I know I want but I'm also not sure about other parts,
I will use the PC for (mainstream) gaming only and Its importent for me that the PC is a bit silent as it will be placed in the living room.

My budget is about 1700 euro.
I want to get a i7 (no i5) and a Noctua CPU cooler as they are good and silent.
Also I want a GTX 1070 and for a motherboard I prefer Asus but I don't know which one.
In my old PC i'm using a Asus maximus Hero but perhaps thats overkill as I'm not doing any heavy overclocking.

I was waiting for the new best buy guide to come out on the Dutch tweakers forum but unfortunately I dont like this one to much as the specs can be a bit higher.

Can someone recommend a solid build?

Thanks in advance

Alex

Thanks so much guys. Not want to start a huge discussion but would a Asus MAXIMUS VIII RANGER be worth the extra money over a Asus Z170-A ?
The motherboard is most difficult to choose I think.

In my opinion, for mainstream user like you, not worth to spend extra for the MAXIMUS.
Z170-A (or any other decent z170 board) have all the mainstream features and capable for good overclocking.

Thanks. I saves me about 50 euro. Is the Asus Z170-A one of the top motherboards in that range or are there better alternatives?
I always had an Asus before and was told they are the best but maybe itts difefrent now with other brands.

this is a good build

you can save some money by going for the Nocuta NH-U14S as CPU Cooler which will be more than sufficient even for overclocking, is cheaper and easier to fit RAM along with it

if you need a case that supports an optical drive I suggest either the R5 (Fractal Design) or the F31 suppressor (Thermaltake) -- both cases are classified as silent cases and are good quality

if you can spare a bit of money, I'd go with a Corsair RMx, EVGA Supernova GS/G2, XFX XTR or Seasonic G / X-series for PSU. the M12II-Evo is fine if budget is an issue and you can't spare an additional 15-30€ for the PSU.
