TLDR I guess I dont expect anyone to read all of that. Basically I installed a new motherboard and cpu. Re attached everything where its supposed to be and when turning on the computer the power button turns green instead of blue like normal. The lights and fans and everything turn on but nothing comes up on screen. The computer stays on for about 30 seconds then shuts off for about 5 seconds, then turns itself back on again over and over and over. Its like it wants to start going but cant quite do it. Any advice?
TLDR^^^
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

So I helped a friend put together a new build once (hes the computer guy) and thought I would be able to install a new motherboard and cpu by myself on my on comp. So I will attach pictures of the new and old motherboard and the cables that I am not understanding, but first I will go through the process of installation of hardware because I may be missing something silly.

-Ok so the case is gutted, remove old motherboard.
-Take new motherboard and pop in the new CPU. This is pretty simple, you pop it in and latch the holding device, thats it right? Pop in the CPU fan.
-Ram, this motherboard takes DDR4. The motherboard has room for 4 sticks, but I only have 2 at 8 gigs a piece. Does it matter which slots i place the 2 sticks I have? Do they have to go right to left or in any particular order?
-screw in the new motherboard and attach everything.

I know where everything goes except for the f_usb 1,2,3,4 and the "f_panel" this is where I think I went wrong.

Here is a photo of the wires in question, and a photo of the old motherboard. They are all color coded to my old motherboard

As you can see the multi colored wire with the black head goes to "fp1"/ the blue goes to f_usb1/ the green goes to f_usb2 / the white goes to f_usb3/ and the yellow goes to f-audio1. Simple.

Now my new motherboard only has f_usb 1 and 2 leaving the white cable without a place. Here is the new motherboard sorry its sideways. https://postimg.org/image/vv9s08ykp/

Ok so the audio is on the left so the yellow cable goes there, I only have 2 "f_usb" ports on the new motherboard so this leaves the white cable without a place if I put green and blue in the "f_usb1/2" slots. Also the "f_panel" on the new motherboard is larger than the one on the old motherboard. If I place the cable on the left hand side of the port it fits, but leaves additional room for another calble? or do I need an adapter?

So after hooking all this up I attempted to turn on the computer (the white F_usb3 cable not attached). When normally starting my computer the power button lights up and turns blue. This time the computer powered up and the power button turned green. It stayed lit for about 20 seconds and then the computer just shut off. There was nothing on the monitor.

Does the lack of a f_usb3 port make this motherboard not compatible? Do I need an adapter for the f_panel cable since the port is bigger on the new motherboard?

Solution
From those pictures you posted, I guess the old MB maybe the OEM, and you try to use the old case too. Is it right? If yes, may double check the old MB is what format, like BTX, or something else.
Also you will need the new OS if you switch to retail brand MB.
