Case Fan Voltage/Current Question

So I'm trying to frankentein a fan into my sister's new-to-her desktop (actually a 4 year old retired till computer...) because all it's got is a rear exhaust fan. I tried a 12V 0.18A Foxconn fan, but it was a freakin jet engine wannabe. I have several more I'm gonna try.
One is a giant fan from the inside of a crazy custom designed Dell pc. It's 12V, but 1.6A. Is that 1.6A going to be a problem? If it's run undercurrent, will it run slower? Slower would be better, actually.
Thanks for any help.

usually, when you connect even a 3 pin fan to the mainboard there's some utility software that comes with your mainboard which lets you control fan speed

1.6A depends again on your mainboard. alternatively you can connect it via MOLEX to the PSU and get an adapter to run it at only 5V (the fan will spin slower)

Actually, I was just looking through my container of adapters and I found a molex-to-3pin one.
Problem is, the fan is on a weird 5pin connector that looks like it should be plugging into a front panel header or something. The three pin goes in, but I'm not sure that the wires and such will match like they are usually designed to.
I can find out what the pins of the molex are, but I don't know anything about the fan's wires.
Will I break sht if I just plug it in and see what happens?
Looks like my adapter turns it into a 2 pin off of the yellow 12V and ground.
Fan's connector seems to fit just fine with the mobo's front fan header, so hopefully it's just a regular 4pin. Here goes...
