CPU Temps worse after removing drive bay?

I recently removed the drive bay for an SSD from my case since I didn't have an SSD. Plus, it was smack dab in front of the upper half of my intake fan. So, after the attempt to make more space while theoretically bettering airflow/temps, I logged on to my computer only to see that CPU temps had gone up by 2-3 degrees Celsius. Anyone know why this is?

Does seem odd, but I guess it's possible that the way airflow was directed w/ the drive bay installed helped cool your CPU better. Since nothing else changed, not sure what else it could be. I'm guessing ambient room temps are the same as well.
