When will we have a Graphics card that can sweespot the 1440p monitor on max settings at 144hz.

How many years do you guys think would it take for GPu tech to be good enough for 1440p gaming.

Since I'm planning on buying a 1440p monitor either with g-sync or freesync depending on the GPU but I hope AMD will release a good fashioned vid card that can be the sweetspot for 1440p gaming since g-sync monitors are expensive as fuck.

Solution
Honestly, it might not be GPU tech but CPUs that become the limiting factor when it comes to high refresh rate gaming. There are some games now where even the best CPUs available are a limiting factor to the Titan X Pascal when trying to do 144Hz. CPUs have little prospect in improving as we are hitting the limits of how far we can shrink the transistors and don't really have anything else that can improve per core performance. DirectX 12 and Vulkan might fix this by improving CPU utilization and allowing scaling beyond 4 cores, but we'll have to see what happens with that as there aren't many games out yet that features either API.

gpu tech is good enough now for 1440p, and has been for a while

it's 4k that is couple of years away from a single card solution

I think we're pretty much there for single card 4K with the Titan X Pascal, it's just going to be a couple of years before we get a card that can run 4K well without costing you your firstborn.

titan x and the upcoming 1080 ti are a good step forwards indeed

however you still need to lower settings in order to reach 60 fps, and even then might drop below that

sli titan-x with gsync monitor would be ideal, i doubt many people have that kind of money
