Hello,

So about 2 or 3 weeks ago I switched to NBN Wireless 25M/s Download And 5MB/s Download the first week we weren't getting those speeds but I didn't mind because it was still fast compared to our old internet connection,so recently about a week ago I installed steam on my computer and started playing games and then I went to go and play CS:GO I haven't played it yet on our new connection and I wanted to see how it was, the game was unplayable, I tried to play it today but still unplayable, I have rung up my Internet provider the last three days and they couldn't help me, my ping will be about 60 to 180 on CS:GO, so I just went and played on local servers and got a ping of around 60 but still I could not play the game, so I thought alright maybe it's just CS:GO so I went and tried to play agar.io and there was lts of lag and it to was unplayable, also I'm using WIFI on my computer with a usb adapter but I get speeds any were between 10KB/s to 4MB/s

I think you need to email isp, show them the speed you get on speednet and the speeds you get on the local servers and see what they have to say. If they steam servers a lot of ISP host their own, I know Iinet does. So if anything it should be as fast as your speedtest score.

Ping will vary, it depends when you use it as demand in area will increase it. If you try to play games on weekends or during peak hours, you going to get higher scores. That is something I read about the Wireless NBN connections.

It could be the servers themselves as a lot of Australia is super slow still, average speed in country is 5mbit so might not be much desire for them to exceed that.

I am through Iinet and they supplied the modem that also acts as our...

i went from 1.9 mbit to around 20 last year and even though it wasn't what we were paying for, it was still mind blowingly fast in comparison

Test your speed on here: http://www.speedtest.net/

My ping to Sydney is 33ms, but then I am on wired connection here. 65mbit down, 21mbit up

you might be best finding your isp on here and asking what average ping in area is: http://forums.whirlpool.net.au/forum/9?g=3

If speedtest reports you getting 20, that is what you getting. It doesn't make it up. Almost every ISP in Australia uses a version of it to test connections, I don't think they would do that if it lied. Unless its a conspiracy.. then, yeah, maybe.

that is pretty good, if i connect via WiFi I get slower than the connection type we have, I have to run on Ethernet to get the speed I get now, You getting what you pay for over WiFi. Do you have phones over ip as well or just internet? if you have voip the 5mb on top may be set aside for it.

Yes I do have voip but my router doesn't support it so we're thinking of getting a new one, but what you said about the download speed and should be what I'm getting, I get no where near that and on the speed test it says I get about 30 to 40 ms in ping but on local perth servers I get 180!!

I am through Iinet and they supplied the modem that also acts as our router, didn't you get anything like that? I am not on NBN as its not coming here - we already had faster connections in city - so I don't know what you get with your deal.
