I'm trying to set up a second monitor, but the motherboards hdmi port won't work. If I hook up my main monitor to the port it won't work either, but I do have it working through my nvidia graphics card

Solution
may have to turn it on in the bios like maybe switch from card use to onboard ??

like as example look in your boards manual at [under bios ]

''Integrated Graphics Configuration''

then maybe something under that like this

IGD Multi-Monitor
Enables both integrated and discrete graphics at the same time. When disabled, it
will default to Initiated Graphics Adapter selection.
