Hey all -
I just put together a new PC that didn't appear to boot properly - all fans are powered, etc, but there was no video output. After digging up a MOBO speaker (since this didn't come with it) I was surprised to find three loud beeps - which research shows is indicating a memory issue.
This is my MOBO and RAM:
Mobo: ASRock Z170 Extreme3
RAM: Geil DDR4 2133hz 2x8 GB kit (GPR416GB2133C15DC)
After booting with both modules in the A2/B2 slots, I tried moving them to the A1/B1 slots. Then I tried booting with one stick at a time, each in the A1 slot. Nothing worked.
Going to ASRock's list of supported ram modules, it seems like only the 4GB version of this brand/speed is supported - could that be the cause of the issue? I used PC Part Picker and didn't realize that some RAM modules aren't supported by some BIOS - or is that just smoke and mirror? Any tips?
Thanks!
