Hello again!
I feel like I was just an innocent bystander in the war of rooted vs. unrooted phones. I had no interest in rooting.
But the June 03 2016 firmware update I took to my s5 caused the phone to not work as good as it once did.
Add to that, I had just finished paying off the phone with Verizon's 2 year contract (my 2nd contract with them), and Verizon didn't want to help me with my dysfunctional phone.
All they wanted to do was sign me up to another 2 year contract with the s7 phone and would not even look at my s5 phone!
So now I have tried to do research on the web about rooting and I have become convinced that part of the reason for the June 03 2016 firmware update was possibly to close loopholes because rooters had found a way to get past Samsungs defenses.
Thus, Samsung has harmed me with their firmware update and Verizon has harmed me with their unwillingness to help me.
I have therefore been forced to come out on the side of the rooters and support their cause.
Sorry for the lengthy explanation.
So far, my research into rooting has shown that most posts are around 2 years old. In that time, towelroot came and worked and then became not working. Therefore people have been looking for a way to continue rooting the s5.
I don't understand ChainFire (another way to root). It seems complicated. I'm not terribly worried about violating warranties. Indeed, I feel violated with how I'm being treated. Verizon seems unwilling to honor themselves anyway. They probably wouldn't honor a warranty on such an "old" phone (old in their opinion) anyway.
Therefore does anyone know of where rooting the s5 stands these days?
I'm tired of the Samsung/Verizon combo jerking me around.
Thanks.
