Approximate Purchase Date: End of the month, sooner the better

Budget Range: ~$1000 USD, can be a bit more if necessary

System Usage from Most to Least Important: I'm a graduate student for architecture, so rendering + Adobe softwares +3d modeling

Parts Not Required: Keyboard / Mouse / Monitor

Preferred Website(s) for Parts: I have Amazon Prime but if other websites have better deals that's perfectly fine

Country: New York, US

Parts Preferences: I had a FirePro graphic card before but purchased long time ago, don't remember how many dedicated memory it has

Overclocking: Maybe (still learning about overclocking, what does it do general speaking?)

SLI or Crossfire: Maybe (probably not if I understand this right...I probably don't need extra graphics card but one?)

Monitor Resolution: 1920x1080

Additional Comments:

My requirments are as follow:

1. 8 cores will be ideal for rendering purpose, (I have heard computers can read 8 threads when rendering from 4 cores? why are the AMD FX multi-cores are so much cheaper than Intel CPUs? i.e. AMD FX-9590)
2. 8gb ram, (but seems like 16gb ram comes pretty cheap nowadays too?)
3. 2gb dedicated GPU with openGL, (GTX 1060 or GTX 970?)
4. want to be able to run dual monitors for modeling purposes
5. if within budget, I want to be able to have both HDD (for my files) and SSD (for my softwares), a hybrid drive?

Also,I'm trying to use this website to put things together but don't have much idea what I'm looking at...https://pcpartpicker.com...is this a good start?

First time posting, I'm a complete newbie in computer building...still reading through the sticky at this great forum. I want to thank you everyone in advance for your help! looking forward to hear your advice!

Solution
That build would work, with some changes. The PSU is not a good unit, and the ram should be 4x4gb, as it is a quad channel platform. You only need a wifi adapter, if you do not have a wired connection possible, to your router. The motherboard has sound, no need for a card. H60 I feel is a bit weak, for that CPU. You forgot the case as well. You would be looking at something more like this.

CPU Cooler: Reeven Justice 82.1 CFM Sleeve Bearing CPU Cooler ($42.00 @ Newegg)
Motherboard: ASRock X99 Extreme4 ATX LGA2011-3 Motherboard ($173.98 @ Newegg)...

The AMD chips are cheaper, because they are much older, and slower. With your budget, I managed to squeeze in an i7, and a GTX 1060.

Thanks for your reply logainofhades! Couple of questions.

I understand I may need to fit a quad-core CPU in this build because of the budget, but will some other 6+ cores CPUs below fit my criteria? Would you prefer to completely avoid AMD CPUs?

1. Intel Core i7-5820K 3.3GHz 6-Core Processor - $368.99 (12 threads)
2. Intel Xeon E5-2609 V4 8-core Processor - $301.99 (8 threads)
3. AMD FX-9590 4.7GHz 8-Core OEM/Tray Processor - $194.99 (8 threads)

I saw that you don't have a cooler in your build, should that be a must for what I want to achieve?

Also, just asked my cousin who works at Microsoft to get me a copy of Windows ($25) so I have some room to play with in the other areas :D

Anything is overkill in this build?

Do I need to add wireless adapter to allow me to go online?

Do I need soundcard so the computer will have sounds?

Sorry I'm asking all these questions because I'm totally new to this...Thanks for the patience!

Thanks again!

Is the motherboard is solid choice or there are better options? I just picked the one that fits the CPU and somewhat price effective...

As for the ram in general, how do I tell if the motherboard(don't know if that's what you refer about the channel platform to) is dual(?) or quad channel?

For the power supply, generally how much watts should I go over the required watts provided by pcpartpicker?

Thanks logainofhades!

That is a decent budget option, for a 5820k build, such as what you are looking at. I prefer to keep a 100w+ buffer, but for the money, that B2 750 is hard to beat. LGA 1151 is dual channel, and LGA 2011-3 is quad channel. The 8 ram slots, on the standard atx boards, gives it away, that it is quad channel.

Thank you so much for your help. I will go ahead and try to put this together as my first built. Anything else I should be aware of besides following the pc building guide on here?

Should I purchase thermal paste for my cpu/gpu etc.?

Also, why some people choose to use liquid cooler if your selection is already efficient enough to cool down a 6 processor CPU? is it safer to use a liquid cooler for my build?

Thanks!
