Hello people, In a couple of days I will receive a EVGA GTX 970 FTW.. that will make my second one because I already have the exact GPU.. This will be my first time going for SLI.. I wanted to know do I just connect the GPUs to the MOBO and use the SLI bridge or do I have to do a special settings.. also I have 2 monitors.. Do I connect each monitor to a different GPU or it doesn't matter? Also I wanted to know If anybody knows if SLI will help adobe products for faster rendering and video preview.. also for games like BF4, Just Cause 3 and Resident Evil Remake.. Thanks for your help!

Hey everyone! Sorry I couldn't reply sooner, buy I finally installed my SLI setup and Im very pleased with it.. I do not have any issues with missing gui or when I restart my system.. I was chatting with an EVGA representative yesterday to make sure I do everything right, I mentioned him that some people were having problems with SLI with the 970.. long story short he told me that not all 970 are compatible with each other.. he showed me this.. https://www.evga.com/support/faq/afmviewfaq.aspx?faqid=59534 he told me to make sure my gpus were on the same colum will work.. and since both my cards are P/N: 04G-P4-2978-KR.. I have no problem at all.. make sure your part number matched your gpus.. anyway I've seen a huge increase in...

You would connect both monitors to same GPU. Unfortunately Just Cause 3 and Resident Evil Remake don't have the best SLI support. You'll have to install the latest driver and game patches and hope for the best. In most tasks though, SLI gives a nice boost in performance.

I've had 2 gtx 970s in SLI in the past do have a 2 way sli compatible motherboard ? if yes then u add them in and go to the NVidia's control panel and press the SLI configs and enable SLI and that's all you have to do I got 2 way SLI with my gtx 1070s
on the control panel it will say if you're enabled or not it's not hard to SLI cards just got to think if your motherboard is capable of 2 graphic cards and a SLI bridge once they're connected go to NVidia's control panel and enable SLI on the top left corner

SLI scaling is how much performance increases with SLI relative to the number of cards installed. With 2 cards, SLI scaling would be considered 100% if performance doubled compared to one card. In BF4, two cards are *very close* to twice as fast as one.

'' SLI means scalable link interface ''

means S-udden L-oss of I-ncome [lol]

I did sli once back in the gtx 8800 days and it was good when it worked but in the end I just never went or thought of going back to it

extra overhead - extra dust / heat/ power use / headach / driver issues / maintenance / game optimizations and what ever . all I just now get the best powerful card and call it good . I don't miss it one bit , but some guys think its the greatest thing ever

all you can do is do it and see how it goes for you and how you liked it form your own experiences from it. heck you may fall into the fell its the best thing ever group ??

I did it when higher res monitors came in to play it did help maybe more games are optimized today but for my just a single 980ti does all I ask fine and dandy ? I guess a guy pushing a 4k monitor would also see benefit as I did with 1080 46'' back then sli was a nice improvement over one card on that then

as they say to each his own and how you feel on it or how it works out for your needs .

its only after the fact after you do it your self you can draw you own conclusion if it was worth it or not next time

all I know some games will see the benefit of multi gpus and some won't wolfenstein for once it's not working with that game neither will it work on rise of the tomb raider ,from my point of view SLIing cards capable to increase power and performance over the higher end cards like on mine I have 2 gtx 1070s in SLI and if I done my mathematics correctly I have a 30 % increase over the gtx 1080 I had a gtx 1080 once it came out on the 27th of may but it wasn't as powerful as NVidia claimed it to be like they said it's as fast as 2 gtx 980s in SLI and installed it and the bomb dropped

the reason I went with 2 gtx 1070s was b/c from my stand point the gtx 1080 wasn't really really providing the power to run the 4k monitor , getting 40s-50s in rise of the tombraider and gta 5 was a joke 50s - 60 FPS with the 2 gtx 1070s it increased it dramatically

I would rather have two 1070s than one 1080. Then again, 2 1070's also cost a lot more than 1 1080. I have 2 980TI's and if I disable one without changing any other settings, all my games slow down drastically. It was worth it for me.

Not bad at all. I'm helping my 11-year-old build his first machine and he actually wants to get SLI 1070's if NVidia decides not to release a 1080TI. Meanwhile, I'm trying to convince him to take my 980TI's. I told him they're just as good, but he's not buyin' it! :)

+PCGUY2015 Please do. I'm seriously interested to see how many watts your SLI setup pulls under load. I have a kill-a-watt meter hooked up to my rig to tell me the A/C current pulled from the wall. But you could also just lookup the TDP of your specific GPUs and then multiple those individual figures by the "GPU Load" TechPowerUp's GPU-Z 's "Sensors" tab. That should be a good approximation.

I normally go by the chart below, which I know is purposefully conservative (recommends higher wattage than is necessary) in case the reader has a poor quality power supply. I appreciate you sharing your observations once you get your 2nd 1070.

2 gtx 980 tis are just as good as 2 gtx 1070s like back on the 27th of may while I was waiting in line at microcenter I was thinking if they run out of the gtx 1080s before I they got to me i'll get another gtx 980 ti and been happy with that but I ended up getting 1 but wasn't nearly as fast as when I had 2 gtx 970s in SLI , like the old saying goes once you go SLI you won't be going back to single card

I've done my homework on that as well the pascal card use a lot less power over the Maxwell cards as well as the temperature , from reading about how much power it takes to run a gtx 1070 uses around 150 watts , I have a 700 watt power supply for my 2 gtx 1070s in SLI and haven't had 1 lick of problems as of yet over my gtx 970s , the gtx 970s had the tendency to overheat over time and the scenes will be distorted and had to turn it off and wait and it will look right again
the gtx 1070s in SLI not 1 issue , I can play for hrs and don't get the distortion and it looks right like I just turned it on
