I'd like to play Overwatch on ultra settings at 90 fps at a 2560 x 1080 resolution.

My current Specs
Motherboard: MSI X58 Platinum (MS-7522)
CPU: Intel Core i7 920 2.67 GHz
RAM: 7GB
GPU: EVGA nvidia geforce GTX 660
PSU: EVGA Supernova 850B2

Case: Unicorn Sigma Metal Storm (203 x 452 x 521 mm)

...But if I want 90 fps at a 2560 x 1080 resolution I think I need to beef up the CPU to a Intel Core i5-6600K. I know I'll also need a new motherboard, but I'd like to know if I can buy another geforce GTX 660 and use them in tandem or if I'd be better off just getting a new GPU altogether? Something like a geforce gtx 780 ti or higher.. Any suggestions? What motherboard would work best with this solution? Thanks!

Solution
Depends which cards, but for me, i always picks a single one EXCEPT for 4k resolutions (mainly you need a 1080 SLI).

Now, in your case, the main problem is the limit in the VRAM in that 660. I think the best shot now is a good upgrade, including ram, motherboard, cpu and gpu.

So,... here's me asking. I've posted this in another thread, but I appreciated your help earlier and wanted to know if you had any thoughts on what 'I think" I want. Thanks again man!
CPU: core i7 6700k
CPU Cooler: I-D Frostflow 240L
Motherboard: Gigabyte LGA1151 Intel Z170 2-Way SLI ATX DDR4 Motherboards GA-Z170X-Gaming 7
GPU: *geforce GTX 1070 (*Is there a large difference between the different editions?)
PSU: *EVGA 850W B2 (Bronze) (*I already have this in my current machine)
Case: NZXT H440 Black/Red

I may get an additional 1070 in the future, but will this PSU and CPU cooler be enough if I do that? Did I leave anything crucial out?

Mainly Gaming, but also for 3D modeling software such as Maya and ZBrush. Possibly light video editing with Adobe Premiere and Flash. I also have 3 monitors, but usually only use 2, since the 3rd is a cintique.

Stuff I didn't add before:
Ram: *G.SKILL Ripjaws V Series 16GB (2 x 8GB) (*Will get an additional 2 when I get 2nd gtx 1070)
Storage: *Samsung 850 Evo 250GB SSD & a 500 GB HDD (*These are in my current PC)
I plan to add storage with a Samsung 500GB SSD or 1TB SSD soon as well.

Thanks again. Love your avatar BTW. Can't wait for season 3!

Sorry, I missed my email alert on your response:( Thanks again! I'd obviously prefer a gtx 1080, but just wasn't sure if it was necessary or worth the extra scratch. The second gtx 1070 SLI is kinda a backup plan in case I wanted more power. A way to future proof I guess. Sounds like a gtx 1080 is the way to go and get a second for SLI in the future if/ when I want more power. Would the CPU Cooler I mentioned previously be enough to keep 2 gtx 1080s in check?

I haven't watched HarmonQuest yet, but I hear it's epic. Can you vouch for it?

Side note. Will the thermal paste that comes with the cpu cooler be sufficient or would I be better off investing in Arctic Silver thermal paste?

In general, i think you'll be safe with a GTX 1070. Why? Well, the GTX1070 is a GPU for 1440p resolutions, but in this case, you're using multiple monitors, and i still think you're safe.

Its on you, if you dont have in mind jumping to 1440p or 4k in a near future ,just get the GTX 1070 in that case, and you're will be fine.

About the Thermal Paste, as you like, for me its enough, but if you want to be safe, pick a thermal paste and put it!

Thanks again. I'm taking your advice and going with an evga gtx 1080 superclocked. I don't want buyers remorse down the road cause I was too cheap to spend a couple hundred extra bucks. Thanks again for all the help!
