My brand new asus strix 1070 isnt being detected by my new system. I have tried updating my bios, and changing the default gpu in my bios, but there is no option to do so. The fans are running and when i run dxdiag it tells me im running Intel Hd Graphics but it also says the graphics are using 8 gbs of ram. Im guessing the 8gbs is coming from my not detected gpu.
I am running two power supplys, one is just for the gpu as i thought that it could be a power issue but there was no change. AND i have tried install nvidia drivers, it says there is no compatible hardware.

Specs
Asus Gtx 1070 rog strix oc
16 Gb Corsair Ram
i7 6700k
Msi B150 GAMING M3 Mobo
Intel 240gb SSD
Seagate 2TB Harddrive
Corsair H60 Cpu cooler

I disabled the onboard graphics, now all that comes up in the device manager is Microsoft Basic Display Adapter. The GPU is connected too its own 500 watt power supply, so its not the power draw. And when i plug the monitor into the card it doesnt work. Is there any way too see if the actual gpu is working? The fans and rgb lights are on i know that doesnt mean its working but is there a way to tell if the gpu is actually running?

well not sure but if you disabled onboard graphics the onboard video port should not be working. so some how it is not actually disabling. mabe someone here knows more of what is going on.

I have a question though. why does it have its own power supply?

Well i thought i could be the power supply, so i started messing around with them and getting different results, im pretty new to building computers, so i tried giving it its own psu and then the fans and lights started but the pc wouldnt detect the gpu, now i have the whole system on a 450w power supply, it actually detects it, but the fans arent going, im thinking thats because the gpu knows not to use them now because its not being used? The problem i have now is that there is no way i can set my computer to use my gpu because Nvidia control panel wont work and my motherboard Bios doesnt have an option for graphics or display, or is it just because there is not enough power? When i go into the device manager and go to the display section, my 1070 has a yellow ! sign and in the properties it says "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)"
