Question about GTX 1070

If I buy a GTX 1070 could I put it to good use with an i5 4670 (non k) CPU? Do I have to upgrade my CPU, Motherboard( H87-HD3, LGA 1150) and ram before I can do that? Not an expert in any way, but would appreciate some help on this. Thanks.

That CPU is still well-suited to the GPU. An upgrade is not really necessary.

Yes - good to go as long as you have a solid 500w-ish psu.

Ahh - a key piece of missing info. I'd not upgrade from a 980 to a 1070 since thats basically a 980 to a 980 ti. If you have money to burn look at 1080 and a 27" 1440/144 monitor.

Oh yeah, 1070 is a not a big enough jump from a 980 IMO. I would either sell the 980 and splurge for a GTX 1080, or wait a little longer to upgrade.
