please help! Complex gpu issue System won't start while gpu is plugged ( not a minor cable issue)been on forums no help

I have tried starting threads twice and no answer. Pls help me! Much appreciated :

Specs: i7 4770k (H200I V2), titan x (maxwell) -EVGA AIO ,AX 76O CORSAIR PSU ,asus maximus vII hero MOTHERBOARD VENGEANCE PRO 2133MHZ 16GB

So..
I was experiencing pc shutting off and restarting 20-30mins in game (bf4).
I clean installed OS flashed bios to latest as I hadn't updated that in a while so thought I would attempt that, cleared cmos battery out played again one more time and now this time it won't turn on with GPU plugged in.
Connectors PCIE are correct etc, tried others, tried moving rooms outlets too.
Pc is fine without GPU.

System components are MAX 2yrs or less in age. Gpu over time freezes and crashes frequently at times and less frequently but regular at other times. Ever since having it I noticed this and also that I see in game objects are missing and may reappear like flickering.

Is my GPU damaged, defective at start & worsened over time or is it my motherboard or gpu drawing too much power. I have seen from time to time in afterburner the top reading POWER ( not usage) it yellow line at 150 % and has a power figure of a crazy 500 000 plus

I have been at it with this system for 4 days my room is a total mess cables and stuff all over the place where I tried everything from reassembling whole system new thermal taste cleaning while pc etc.

I CAN'T FIND EXCEPT ONE THREAD ON THIS AN OLD ONE AND IT TURNED OUT LUCKILY FOR HIM THAT HE JUST SIMPLY HAD WRING CABLES BEING USED.

If you no longer can boot with it, try breadboarding your system and lets go from there. Could be a defective gpu indeed.

I have tried removing everything except taking the motherboard which was fully disconnected out of the chassis but that's it. Cleaned everything reseated everything reapplied thermal paste to gpu and cpu still same PC totally fine run perfect but if I plugged in PCIE cables it will not start

You haven't got your PCIe 8 pin cable accidentally plugged into the motherboard 8 Pin slot have you? That's caught me before as it's pretty easy to do and will prevent the computer from booting.

Make sure your 8 Pin CPU power on the motherboard is connected to the 2 blocks of 4 pin cables from PSU.
Then make sure any 8 Pin connectors on your Titan X are connected to solid 8 pin cables from the PSU, or 6+2 pin cables... just NOT the 4+4 cable.

Assuming that's not the problem (and it's probably not), then you probably have enough information to submit a warranty claim with Nvidia for that GPU. I believe you have a 3 year warranty on it. While it is possible that your PSU or mobo are causing the issues, the GPU is the most likely culprit (particularly with your extremely high quality PSU). If you (or a friend?) has another rig you can chuck that GPU in to test that would be helpful and could (if it doesn't work), all but confirm that the GPU is the problem. But if that's not possible and you can't really isolate the issue any further, I'd suggest you've done enough testing to submit a warranty claim.

Hmm..well I know how often a person can make mistakes with cables and as I didn't change anything till after I tried new PSU I assume they are OK but good reminder becoz will check again and again even when I think I know it's Wright.
I will try my best to test GPU and keep you informed I know it's the deciding factor in resolving this issue so has to be done.

Worth checking for sure, but it really is sounding like your GPU is dying or has completely died. Can know for sure unless you can try it in another PC, or send off and wait for a replacement. If that is the case you're unlucky! That's very unusual, but these things do happen from time to time.

Should also mention that with gpu in slot and system Powered on the monitor does have message saying plug in pcie cables to your graphics card so obviously I checked and used other connectors ( I have a few different ones) no luck

Would like to know the significance and effect of the the gold contact points located inside the actual pcie connectors, you have different configurations like one may be missing in the middle or 2 on the 8 pin on some cables are missing.
I ask this because my titan shows the 8 pin have 8 actual gold contact points in the connector sleeves shall we call them and on the 6 pin one gold contact point in the manual shows it missing.
But I use corsair ones the whole time and the 2 8 pins running from psu have 6 gold points within both of them and the other end of these cables have none missing where as if I try my evga PSU all gold plated contact points are in all of the sleeves...I'm wondering it's effect on the gpu and if it means sorry if this sounds stupid but wether this effects power to gpu explaining why I have weird reading of power in software....

Tested another gpu in my system working normal now.
Hold on, get ready to laugh...I killed that card,I took off the backplate and realised when I must have installed it I accidentally put thermal strips two of them wrong side I was supposed to flip them,so that there was not oily residue over PCB and VRAM chips. XD
I'm so embarrassed and only sharing this because it will help in future diagnostics.

Such a silly mistake but in all honesty both sides looked the same and I didn't take it serious enough but I never read after all videos I watched, nobody mentioned this caution. So anyone who first time installing backplate learn from me,I destroyed £1000 VGA.

Shows how serious a little job can turn out for you.

Well that's a sad story! Thanks for posting back. We've all had moments like that though.
