How to speed up my computer while doing digitize mapping using QGIS my PC is intel(R) core(TM) i3-3210 cpu @ 3.2gHz 2GB of RAM. no video cards.

Solution
It wouldn't hurt for gaming purposes, but from what I could dig up I don't think QGIS utilizes GPUs (i.e. doesn't use CUDA cores to reduce CPU utilization). Still, you can pick up a decent video card for a fairly cheap price.
I have no idea what digitize mapping using QGIS is and I have no idea what you mean with speed up,if you mean the program itself there probably is nothing you can do unless the prog needs faster ram/hdd and so on if it is CPU dependent then only changing the CPU could help.

If you mean that whenever the program does it's work your system gets less responsive, then search google on how to set priorities through the task manager put your mapping app on the "low" priority and the lagginess should disappear.

Well, at a glance I'd say get more RAM. If you're running a 32-bit version of Windows, doubling up to 4GB (the max recognized by Windows) should help speed it up a bit. If you're running 64-bit Windows, then your system is starving for resources (2GB being the minimum to run 64-bit Windows), & you should consider bumping it up to at least 8GB.

Beyond that, a Core i5 or i7 will also speed your computer up.

Thanks spdrago. does the absence of a video card affects the speed of my desktop. i'm a mapper using the QGIS program and i want to maximize the use of my desktop than buying the i5 or i7 cpu. i wanna buy 2gb of RAM and a video card to upgrade my cpu. does it help? thanks everyone, your sensible suggestions are very much appreciated.
