So I have this WD External HardDisk. Not sure what it is exactly, but its a WD External hard disk with a black cover. Simply says "WD" on it. I know its 1TB memory. When I connect the hard disk, the light flickers on off every second. I hear the HD hum on, but after 15 seconds or so it hums down and the the light is still flickering.... I have very memorable photos on this disk, but im willing to format it if it will solve the problem. Ive checked disk management but I cant find the disk. Ive used different programs but still no solution.

Plz help :'(

Hello again, @Rintarou!

This sounds pretty unfortunate! :( If the clicking noises are present and you cannot recognize the external WD HDD on any system, I'm afraid it might have failed! If you have any important data on the external that is not backed up/copied somewhere else as well, you might need to use the assistance of a professional data recovery company. They would be your best bet on getting any of the files back.

Another thing I strongly recommend you to do is to check the warranty status of the drive on our website. If it's still covered, you should be able to send an RMA request and get a replacement from our Customer Support. You can contact them either by phone or...
Hey there, @Rintarou!

I'm sorry to hear about your issues with the WD external drive. :( I'd strongly recommend connecting the HDD using a different USB cable and to another USB port on your computer. You can even try plugging it to another PC/laptop altogether to see how it will get recognized from there as well. It's highly recommended to check how the external appears in Disk Management in Windows. It would be really helpful if you share a screenshot from there.
Just make sure you backup all your data from the external 1 TB drive as soon as you can access it!

Keep me posted with the troubleshooting!

So i've already tried different USB ports, 4 different PC/Laptops and cables, didn't work at all. In disk management it does not show the Drive as well, and no unassigned drives.

From my knowledge of tech, When I start the WD HD, I can hear some clicking, therefore i'm inferring that the HD reader has moved off the plate, therefore it thinks that the HD is broken and shuts of 15 seconds later as i mentioned earlier which is why the computer is not recognizing the WD HD.

I'm just hoping i'm wrong, any more help is greatly appreciated.
