so i was using my desktop yesterday worked just fine then next day i come to turn it on my entire operating system is gone, when i go to windows setup to install it again (from a usb key) there are no partitions present, i cannot load the hard drive or create new partitions and when going into bios the hard drive does not show up, is this likely to mean my hard drive needs replacing? *i should add the machine makes 1 beep to say all is running fine the only error is that the hard drive won't load, also this is a new build where i used an existing hard drive in it.

Try plugging the drive to a different SATA port. If the problem persists, it's pretty much just a dead HDD yeah.
