So i bought a new 120gb SSD and I'm having trouble initializing it to partition so i could use it. When i try to initialize the disk (ssd) I tried both GPT and MBR partition styles, but it keeps giving me the god damn error. My main hard drive has 698gb. Can somebody please help me!!! I really want to put Windows on the ssd, cuz the hard drive boot time is R s0 damN Slow D:

Hello again, @Jacob!

I'd recommend you refer to this guide from our knowledge base on How to physically install & set up your SSD. The error could be indicating some hardware issue with your solid-state drive as well, so I'd suggest you find another computer to connect the drive there and see if the issue would still be present...
Hey there, @Jacob!

You should probably try reseating the SSD and make sure it's mounted properly inside your rig. I'd also make sure that the SATA mode for it is set to AHCI in the BIOS settings. Another thing you should check is how the SSD appears on another computer and attempt to re-format it from there as well. Sharing what the specific error code is would be really helpful to @drtweak and me.
If you plan to clean install Windows onto the SSD, you could also try unplugging the current booting HDD and fresh install the OS from the Windows Installation media (USB/DVD). Unplugging the secondary storage is highly recommended as you will avoid the so-called OS confusion.

Don't forget to backup all important data somewhere off-site before tampering with your storage configuration! Better safe than sorry, right?

Keep us posted with the details & troubleshooting! :)

The error states: " The request could not be performed because of an I/O device error "
This is what comes up when I try to initialize the disk. Please help, I'm desperate.

Unfortunately I don't have another computer to try the ssd on but I'll try double checking no the sata connecters. Is there a specific guide on how to check if I plugged in the sata connectors properly? I'll highly appreciate it.
