Hello, I am planning on building a brand new PC and I hope to purchase most of my parts, if not all on Black Friday, but I am worried about whether or not I should buy Skylake or wait for Kaby Lake. I understand the price will drop for Skylake either way, and when Kaby Lake comes out, Zen will too making it more competitively priced. I am just unsure on what to do.

I have a skylake 6700k system and am very happy with it. You could wait until kabby lake, but there is not much concrete information on it. I have heard rumors they can be 5-15% better overall performance wise, but again just rumors. It also depends a lot on what you want to do with it. If every single little bit of performance is needed and you want the newest and latest greatest thing, then yeah you could wait until kaby lake. But if you just want it for casual gaming or so, a skylake i5 or even i7 will last quite some time and youll be perfectly happy with it. It also depends on how long you want to wait. When i bought my skylake as soon as it came out, I had to wait two months before i received it because they couldn't keep any instock. There also becomes issues with problems when released. Granted problems like that aren't common, there could be a flaw with them that won't be revealed until millions of people have test the processor when released. It all depends on how long you want to wait and what you are willing to compromise on.

I think I will wait until it gets near Black Friday and from there see if more information is released on Kaby Lake or if there is a great deal for Skylake.
