Hello Guys,

The following is my system configuration:

Motherboard : Asrock Z170 Pro4s
Processor : i3 6100
Power Supply Unit : Antec VP450p
HDD : 1 TB Seagate barracuda
RAM : 2 x 8 GB G-Skill DDR-4 2400 MHz
No Graphics Card

Now the issue is, due to my poor knowledge I run my computer approximately 6 months on only 4 pins of cpu connector although there were 8 pins.

Few days back my computer shutdown suddenly and now when I came to know that all 8 pins are to be interested in motherboard. The cpu won't boot up now. Only black screen appears but i am able to see hdd light blinking for some time and then again stop working (i.e. gets shutdown) What might the issue please help me resolve this matter.

Thanking in advance

The issue is, is that the CPU power cable was only providing half power to the i3. Eventually the i3 died out because it didn't have enough power and was straining itself to try and work properly.

The parts that could be affected is everything that is connected to the motherboard in someway. So basically all of them. You'll have to see what is working and what is not when you get the new pc.

That then sounds more like a power supply problem, cause if the CPU wasnt working you wont get a post at all, same if you disconnect the 4 or 8 pin CPU connector.

So guys can i identify from visual inspection whether the processor is working or not..(sorry for dumb question, but I am asking because it is stated in warranty terms that any damage due to electrical abnormality is not covered.)

Electrical abnormality is from adjusting the CPU's voltage and that you cant really tell unless you literally toasted the CPU.
