Basically, with the new expansion, WoW increased the view distance, but it absolutely murders my FPS. The two settings "view distance" and "environment detail" will drop my FPS by about 25-30+ in certain zones (basically the new Legion areas and WoD) when I put them on the highest setting. My rig is a I5 3570K, 8 gig RAM, and a GTX 970 mini ITX. My CPU cooler is a Corsair H60. I've been told the view/environment distance are very CPU intensive so I was wondering if overclocking the CPU will give me any improvements to in game performance. My friend, who doesn't know OC very well, but knows more than me said that overclocking my CPU will give me probably a 2 FPS increase and overclocking my GPU will give me another very, very small FPS gain. Is it worth my time? I mean, I'm still on summer break, so I guess it could be a good side project for me to do during free time while gaining gaming performance. Also, off topic, I don't gain or lose any FPS (as far as I can tell) when I turn off anti-aliasing or when I put it up to MSAA x2, x4, or x8. Is there any reason for this?
