Hey there,

I have a very old power supply that does not have an ON/OFF switch, so I can't really ground myself with the PSU alone. But I have a 3-prong extension cord, if I plug my PSU into the extension cord and turn off the extension cord, will I be able to ground myself? Does the ON/OFF switch on my extension cord affect grounding?

Thanks for the help.

Solution
You dont need to go through the trouble.
So long as you arent dancing around on carpet wearing wool sock you will not create enough static to do anything. So long as you touch the case/work surface you will level any charge, meaning its impossible for a discharge in the first place.

People worry too much about grounding these days when working on PCs.
