The second monitor has a border around it when I set them to Extend at 1920x1080. The border is sometimes black, sometimes it has parts of the wallpaper inside, and sometimes has parts of the first monitor. Either way, I can't click in the border. It doesn't matter which monitor i make my main display. This goes away when i set the resolution of both monitors to 1366x768. Just FYI, I'm connecting the monitor to my Asus ROG laptop and the monitor is a Philips 21.5" connected via HDMI. My laptop detects that the optimal resolution for both is 1920x1080. Thanks for any insight.

As much as I am understanding the issue, it is happening because the machine is considering your 2nd screen as a TV. Here're a few solutions which you can use to see if your problem gets resolved:

These seem to be more for ati graphics cards. I'm using a GTX 860M. Sorry if I'm missing something.

EDIT: This is what it looks like. http://i.imgur.com/KeyCSuL.jpg

if you go into Nvidia control panel, under display click on "adjust desktop size and position" menu and then select the monitor you have plugged your laptop into and under the "size" tab click on "resize" (you may have to tick the box above that enables resizing. it will then allow you to adjust the horizontal and vertical margins

in case you reply when im not here, im going to assume win10, if so, right click desktop, click "display settings, scroll to bottom, click "advanced display settings", scroll to bottom, click "display adapter properties", it will bring up a new window, all i can really say without seeing yours is have a look around in there, don touch anything you dont know, but there will be 4 or so tabs along the lines of "adapter" "monitor" "colour management" "(some kind of display control panel)" try monitor and the display control panel and see what you can find.

Tried it. Nothing much I could adjust in there. I guess i could just stick with a 1366x768 resolution since the propblem dosen't seem to happen in that resolution
