I am currently using a Usb to Sata cable to try and retrieve/backup my files from an internal harddisk. It has 2 partition drives. One drive has windows 10 OS installed in it, the other is just a normal partition drive.

The problem is that i can only seem to access my files from the 2nd partition. I cant seem to access the 1st partition which has the OS in it to retrieve my files that are lying on the desktop/downloads etc. When i mean cant access, i meant that it takes forever to load(with the loading bar never seeming to end)

Does anyone know how i am able to fix this issue and be able to access the first partition?

Thank you very much.

The file system may be damaged. In that case, your best bet would be to use file recovery software such as Recuva or File Scavenger to deep-scan the partition and find your files. If you do a file system repair from Windows, the repair operation may make things worse by further modifying the file system.

If the disk in question locks up completely when you attempt to access the partition, it could be because the drive is physically damaged in some areas associated with that partition. In that case, you may want to backup your 2nd partition before it goes bad or the drive dies altogether if it contains anything important.
