i am thinking of the hyper 212 EVO but i kind of want to get one that is a bit better spend some more money that is better than the hyper 212 EVO in a HAF 912 atx case and a LGA 1151 socket with a 6600k
any suggestions thinking a noctua one but they look big

Solution
The noctua cooler is nice but it is a larger air cooler. You'd want to make sure it will fit over the top of your ram, lower profile ram isn't a problem but taller ram like corsair vengeance will be. Other decent air coolers for a bit less would be the phanteks tc12dx, cryorig h5 or if you don't mind a larger tower cooler that won't hang over the ram, the thermalright true spirit 140 power. The ts 140 power performs as well as the nh-d14 for about $50 but it's about 10mm taller. At 171mm tall it should fit since the haf 912 supports coolers up to 175mm. Those three are all around $40-50.

If the noctua's within your budget and won't interfere with your ram it's definitely a good cooler as well...

it may not be a problem considering i will only have 2 sticks of ram in my build (16gb) so maybe he placement wont hinder it i wont need more than 16gb of ram just need something in ha area of amount and when i upgrade i will get a new case firs that is a full tower i like the haf 932 advanced so i will be able to get a bigger cooler

i guess it would have been good to mention that i am using a msi gaming m5 know if the thermalright or the phanteks would hang over the the ram with that motherboard with the spacing of the ram and how close it is to the socket?

The noctua cooler will still overhang the ram, I have a similar large air cooler and it hangs over all 4 ram slots. If the front fan is an issue it can be raised up a little for additional clearance on the noctua cooler. It seems to overhang at least 3 out of 4 or all 4 slots on most boards.

This isn't mine but it's an i5 6600k/z170 build with an nh-d14 that has a few photos to give you an idea how it overhangs the ram.

The phanteks cooler will overhang the ram also if you're referring to the larger tc14pe.

If referring to the smaller tc12dx that I had linked to earlier, then no.

The thermalright ts 140 power shouldn't overhang the ram either. This is the true spirit 140 power with an i7 6700k.

wouldn't it depend on how low it hangs because i noticed with some it does hang over bu you have to insert the ram first then put the cooler on but if i am only having 2 sticks of ram in then it shouldnt be too much of a problem? although i am gearing towards the phanteks one seems decent though i don want a gigantic one but if it overhangs and i can still use my ram maybe it will be good what cpu cooler do you use? do you have a skylake build with what ram so i have an idea with what i can use

i noiced with the phantek the bigger one the tc14dx will that overhang to the point where i cant use corsair vengeance or normal non low profile ram or however you want to put it
