Hi everyone, I ordered online for my newly built PC(LGA 1151), I tried to start my computer it has no LED lights on my chassis, fan not spinning neither, but GPU has LED though.

So I tried my old motherboard (LGA 775) it starts up, chassis have LED everything working fine.. so I tried breadboard on my new board with only 8 pins 12v and 20+4 pin connected and CPU fans too, tried it and still couldn't boot up, fan isn't spinning

In the end I tried short method by using screw driver, the system still couldn't start up.. even tried clear CMOS pin and even remove CMOS battery still didn't work..

So I lead to two problem, either my 500w PSU doesn't provide enough juice or maybe the new board power switch problem.. any help would be appreciated .. thanks

Build :
i3 6100
Gigabyte B150M DS3H DDR4
ADATA 8GB DDR4 2133MHZ
ACBEL 510W PSU

Edit : I just heard about " haswell PSU " does it affect if I'm using an old but workable PSU like that acbel one's on skylake motherboard ? Do I need haswell PSU compatibility ? If yes, what do you guys would recommended? Thanks

Solution

You can't.

First try the shop, there's a certain period where they are still involved/responsible,can be shorter than here, but with such new components would i first look at the shop you bought it from.
Only if they refuse to coöperate get in touch with Gigabyte support.

For just breadboarding should even that Acbel psu do alright. That psu which i would replace when using a dedicated gpu and if having the funds.
If wanting recommendations maybe tell what part of the world/country you live in or link a trusted site here with the psu page and a max budget.

Is the 8gb ram one stick or 2x4gb? Tried one stick in the second slot from the gpu? Maybe even try all slots with just one stick.

Does PSU affect motherboard at all? A 5-6 years old to a brand new 6th gen chipset? Yeah I probably would replace a new PSU if it work, I lived in Singapore, I bought all posts from taobao, a Chinese online shopping sites, and my budget are like roughly $75 USD~

The ram are 1x8gb, tried all 4 slots didn't work..

To get back at your issue, seems like one of the parts, probably motherboard or cpu is DOA so i would suggest a rma on both and see which one.

Like said above won't an old psu affect a motherboard when a pc is working,it's in the sleep states where it's going to make a difference,an old psu might shut of because of protections built in when combined with this kind of new hardware when going into deep sleepstate.

Sorry for the noob question but how do I disable sleep state when I can't even boot up to bios?

Rma might be a way to go.. But how can I rma? I mean by local computer shop or gigabyte factory ?

Alright thanks! I was unable to contact the seller cause I bought their product in China oversea, I paid freight forwarding fee etc, but I'm not going to send them back again.. so I went to local computer shop, the guy asked me wait 2 days for them for check up, I'll post again after I collect my pc, so other people like me could have their answer so they doesn't need to pay checking fee on their local PC shop

So.. the shop guy done it. He said my old PSU didn't have haswell compatible PSU, so that's why can't work on skylake motherboard.. he changed to cougar 550w 80 plus silver PSU and now everything works ! Thanks for everyone who answered my question ! Yay
