Hey guys,

My Portable hard drive stopped working 10 minutes ago. When I plug it in my desktop, it takes a while to show up in my file explorer.

When I click on it, it says:

K: is not accessible.
The parameter is incorrect.

I tried plugging my hard drive on my tv and on my laptop and it works.

I really need help.

Thanks in advance!

EDIT: I forgot to mention that when I plugged my hard drive to the pc, it started installing the device. That is weird because I use it on this pc every day

Solution

I can confirm that this works.

Mike 777,

1.) Make sure your USB drivers are updated
2.) Make sure your motherboard drivers are updated
3.) Make sure your family chip set is updated
4.) Try a different USB port
5.) Make sure you know which USB port is 1.0, 2.0, 3.0, 3.1
6.) Make sure your BIOS USB security isn't turn on
7.) You can always go to Computer -> Manage -> refresh Hard Drives (see if you PC pick your hard drive

or

you can go buy a new 3.0 or 3.1 FLASH THUMB drive for dirty cheap... plus they have HUGE GB storage space.. rival any SSD or high end HD

I'm having the exact same problem, just started tonight. Just tried the external drive (Toshiba) on two different computers, both mac and windows and it works perfectly fine there...

The drive is listed as RAW in the computer it's not working, but as NTFS in the other: http://i.imgur.com/HjbTKAT.png

The drive can be found under Devices: http://i.imgur.com/dlmiQRX.png

And it cannot be ejected (where it is also labeled as Local Disk D): http://i.imgur.com/3mlNIdx.png
