Here recently my pc would freeze up under a gaming load and would display a checkered board like pattern on both of my monitors. I would need to restart the computer a few times before it would load back up. The last time this happened the computer wont output to my displays anymore. All of my fans will spool up and no beeping sounds are coming from the board. I even hear my hard drives spooling up. I assume the graphics card has died. (Its about 2 years old now)

Sadly I don't have another system to check components on. If anyone has any other ideas of the culprit please let me know before I drop the money on a new GPU.

System Specs:
CPU: AMD FX-8320
GPU: R9 270x
RAM: 12gb
MOBO: MSI 970A-G46

Ah. Reading comprehension fail; I'd thought you'd gotten it to come back up again. Last suggestion before I leave the contributions to smarter people; grab an el cheapo video card from somewhere like eBay, or Craigslist if you're in the US. Heck, I can probably send you a mothballed card for just shipping costs.

Have you checked temperatures, fan speeds and dust buildup on your vid card? Overheating can make weird things happen. Beyond that, I always check RAM first, as it's the component that's failed on me most often. Run memtest86 on each module individually, then together if you feel like being really thorough. If they all check out, the video card is the next most likely cause.

I can't test the memory I don't have another system. Before it died I ran the windows built in memory test tool and it didn't say anything was wrong with the RAM. As for temps the GPU never got over 65c under load and the CPU never made it over 45c
