Can i add a 1x4gb to 3x2gb RAM?

I have an MSI 2a9c motherboard and i have 3 sticks of RAM each with 2gb memory. I have one more slot which is available and i want to add at least 4gb of ram to that spot. My question is will it work without any problems?(motherboard can have frequency up to 1333 mhz and a total of 16gb memory).

Max for your mobo is 8GB so you could try adding a 2GB stick but there are no guarantees it will play with your current DRAM, if you try and have problems give a shout and we can try voltage/timing adjustments

Thanks for the info, i will try with the 2gb. But in hp's site it says it can have up to 16gb ram http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/hp-pavilion-elite-hpe-100-desktop-pc-series/4269972/model/4343758/document/c02613460 (Thats my pc if you are wondering)

HP may have gone ahead and added the support, the mobo specs indicate 8GB, but oft times the BIOS can be tweaked by the manufacturer of the rig, here apparently HP
