I7 4790k temps are going crazy!

So today i started playing Battlefield 1, but i forgot to raise my CPU cooler RPMs and left it at 40% (Using Asus RoG frontpanel). After playing for about 30 minutes, PC died and restarted itself, telling me that CPU temp reached 70c degrees (its set to close if it reaches such temps). After that i pulled the fan to 90% (which i use to play modded GTA V, and never go above 64c) and left it to cool down for 10 minutes. When it was at about 38c, i opened BF1 ready to play again, but after 5 minutes of gameplay i saw my Frontpanel going from 50c to 61, then showing 70 and then, boom, pc reset, again. This happened 4 times today, and i stopped messing with demanding games untill i fix it.

Solutions i tried:
1)Reseting Bios(even though the only thing i had changed was the memory frequency, which i then left at 1333mhz in case that was it, well, it wasnt.
2) Letting the PC shut down normally, letting it cool down for 5 minutes, plugging on and off the power (1 minute between plug in & plug out).

But nothing fixed it, i really need help, because i completed my build 1 month ago and i wanna enjoy it! Its the first time anything in my case goes more than 70c, even my 780 Ti never reached more than 65, even at GTA V 4k text mod or Far Cry 4.

PC Specs:
Asus Maximus Hero VI (latest bios loaded)
GSkill 2133mhz RipjawzX
Msi GTX 780 Ti
I7 4790k (never overclocked by me, and as the previous owner told me he never overclocked it too)
Seasonic EDGE 80+ Gold
840 Evo 120 GB (OS)
Seagate Barracuda 1tb sata 3 (games)
WD Black 2tb sata 2(movies)
Zalman z12 plus, 5 fans

Thanks for any help/advice you can give!

P.S. Im really tired so i may fall asleep after 1-2 hours, i will reply asap.

The_EnforceR,

As has already been suggested, a thermal setpoint limit of 70C is much too conservative.

Here's the normal operating range for Core temperature:

80C Hot (100% Load)
75C Warm
70C Warm (Heavy Load)
60C Norm
50C Norm (Medium Load)
40C Norm
30C Cool (Idle)
25C Cool

Core temperatures in the mid 70's are safe, so just keep it under 80.

Also, to get yourself up to speed on Intel processor temperatures, you might want to read this Sticky:

That temperature is actually very low for a 4790K. You can't use your intuition to tell you what's hot and what isn't for modern silicon. Change your fan speed profile to get rid of some noise and let it run a little warmer. Plenty of Haswell laptops are designed to let the CPU run at 90-95c and they have no problems.
